Most of us (me included) want to chill out and do as little as possible while we are on vacation!  The year 2024 brings with it a further evolution, with an increasing emphasis on activities that promote mindfulness, relaxation, and self-care.

Bali, Indonesia, remains a perennial favorite with its tranquil landscapes and world-class wellness resorts. Tulum, Mexico, is another gem that has captivated the hearts of wellness enthusiasts, boasting pristine beaches, eco-friendly resorts, and a vibrant wellness scene that blends seamlessly with the region’s rich cultural history.

Costa Rica with its lush rainforests and pristine beaches, solidified its status as a wellness haven in 2023. Here, yoga retreats and eco-friendly wellness resorts flourish against a backdrop of stunning natural vistas and a vibrant expat community. Visitors can engage in activities like zip-lining through the rainforest, practicing yoga by the beach, and exploring nature reserves, all contributing to a holistic sense of well-being. Meanwhile, Fiji, with its turquoise waters and idyllic islands, is emerging as a destination where wellness meets paradise, with luxury resorts like VOMO offering an exquisite blend of traditional Fijian healing practices and luxurious spa retreats.  Sign me up!

Urban environments are also adapting to the wellness wave. Kyoto, Japan, stands out as an example, where meditation classes, traditional tea ceremonies, and serene gardens provide a respite from the urban hustle.

The equine experience at Miraval’s Austin retreat is the perfect example of the role animals play in the wellness and healing space.
