Howdy Y'All!
Believe it or not, I’m a southern gal that was born and raised on a South Texas cattle ranch. Definitely a Texas girl at heart with a zest for travel who also cried every day at summer camp at the age of 8 because she was homesick. Who knew I would be traveling the world as a career?!
Upon graduating from college, one of my classmates and I decided we were ready to jump on a cruise ship. Those type of jobs are extremely hard to land, so we borrowed my grandmother’s station wagon and roughly had saved $1,000 and drove to Florida to land a cruise ship gig. Guess what, it worked! I accepted my first position with Norwegian Cruise Line as a first purser working the front desk. WOW, what a life changer for me! Kudos to my parents because after 1 week onboard, mind you NOT knowing anyone, the 8-year-old in me was back at summer camp more homesick than I had ever been. As I stood on the pier in Miami at a pay phone, my parents reminded me that I had signed a contract, so back to the purser’s desk for 6 months sailing in the Caribbean. As fate would have it, I worked for 7 years sailing onboard Norwegian cruise line in several positions, visiting many ports of call and and cultivating special friendships and experiences to last a lifetime.
After my time working/traveling onboard cruise ships, I joined a few of my fellow “shipmates” in Alaska working year-round for Princess Tours in Juneau. To say it was a culture plus a weather shock would be an understatement for this Texas gal! What I really needed was sunshine, some decent fashion & to find a man who had showered/ shaved in the last week (ha, kidding on the last one, kind of). As the saying goes in Alaska “the odds are good, but the goods are odd”. With that, I moved across the country to the sunshine state of Florida, where I worked in Onboard Revenue/ Shore Excursions in the corporate office of Norwegian Cruise Line located in Miami, Florida.
After a few years, I was ready for a new challenge and accepted a position with Princess Cruises/Cunard Line as a Business Development Manager helping travel advisors grow their cruise business. After 16 years with the company, I made the difficult decision to “jump ship” (pun intended) to a new chapter sharing my own travel stories and helping others explore this big beautiful world! I’ll sum it up with a quote from John Chernesky (SVP Sales upon my departure):

How I Became a
Full-Time Traveler
First of all, I’ve always been an avid traveler, but working a full-time job limits your personal travel to weekends, vacation days & before or after work trips like a “cruise”. Yes, one of the perks of working in the cruise industry.
During the pandemic, my silver lining was spent exploring the USA with friends and family, spending time in Texas with my Mother & sharing my love of travel through my amateur photographs & storytelling. As I scrolled through social media during that time, I realized I had years (25+) of experience in this industry and I could do this full time and inspire others to get out and explore our world!
